THINK!DESK was invited to speak at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva on October 2nd, 2017 about the overcapacities in the Chinese aluminium industry. Markus Taube presented the results of a recent THINK!DESK study on „Distorted Markets in the Aluminium Industry. An Account of Government Interventions, Subsidies, and Persistent Overcapacities“. The major imbalances in the global aluminium markets are understood to first of all originate from excessive capacity build-up in the Chinese economy.
